Get ready for our next workshop! Recycled papers

Our next workshop at the Columbiana Public Library is scheduled for August 15, 2024 and we'll be making a hand-bound blank journal that we'll be using for the base of future free projects.

We will have a variety of papers available for you to use, but if you'd like to bring some of your own recycled paper here's a list of suggestions:

  • Greeting cards
  • Ledger paper
  • Copy/printer paper
  • Cardstock
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Magazine pages
  • Larger index cards
  • Packing paper
  • Parchment paper
  • Vellum
  • Watercolor paper
  • Envelopes (junk mail return envelopes are great & we'll be using them in other projects)
  • Notebook paper
  • Book pages
  • Coloring books
  • Junk mail
  • Maps
If it's paper, you can probably use it. Almost any size will work, it just needs to be big enough to fold and bind together.  It's best if it's not too brittle or flimsy. (But don't throw that away, we can use it in other projects, too).

Does it need to be blank? No
Does it need to be new? No (just no food residue)

If you have questions, leave them in the comments below.

Thank you for the gift ❤

One of the people attending our June 6 workshop brought us a gift of various book pages. Wasn't that sweet of her? I used bits of it today in a relaxing cluster project.  :)

Paper Bag Journal

This was a take home project. Some materials were supplied and there's a how-to video on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/CeheRft4a5U?si=LaUEunlQQDMAgOAW

Recycled book pages can be used in place of the scrapbook paper that was supplied. Here's a preview of a finished journal:

First Workshop - Hidden Paperclip

 June 6, 2024

First workshop at Columbiana Public Library! We talked about the basics of Junk Journals and made hidden paperclips. We ran out of time to make the paper bag journal, so we sent some of the materials home with participants. A how-to video will be posted soon and we'll leave some extra materials at the library for you to pick up at your convenience.
